What's Happening?
Daikin Australia has inaugurated its second advanced manufacturing facility in South Western Sydney, marking a significant expansion in its production capabilities. The facility, which is part of Daikin's head office site, spans 7,500 square meters and represents a $28.6 million investment. This expansion is expected to increase Daikin's net production value by approximately $50 million in New South Wales (NSW) and create numerous manufacturing jobs. The new facility will enhance Daikin's production capacity, support ongoing research and development, and introduce improved manufacturing processes to boost efficiency and product output. This development aligns with the NSW Government's Industry Policy, Innovation Blueprint, and Trade and Investment
Strategy, which aim to foster a dynamic economy driven by innovation and robust supply chains.
Why It's Important?
The opening of Daikin's new facility is a significant boost to the local economy in Western Sydney, an area rapidly becoming a hub for innovation and advanced manufacturing. This expansion not only strengthens Daikin's production capabilities but also enhances NSW's sovereign manufacturing capacity. By increasing local manufacturing and fostering industry growth, the facility supports the NSW Government's objectives of building a more innovative and sustainable economy. Additionally, Daikin's investment strengthens ties between Japan and NSW, potentially diversifying export products and markets in line with the NSW Trade and Investment Strategy 2035. This development could position Western Sydney as a globally competitive location for advanced manufacturing, attracting further international investment.
