What's Happening?
Viking has announced a series of four new Virtual Explorer Sessions scheduled from June to September 2026. These sessions are designed to inspire clients and drive future bookings by offering an immersive introduction to Viking's award-winning itineraries.
The series will cover destinations such as Alaska, France, Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe. The sessions are aimed at travel agents, providing them with tools to educate and convert clients through expert-led presentations, practical insights, and live Q&A sessions. The first session, focusing on Alaska & The Inside Passage, will take place on June 25, 2026, and will explore the 11-day voyage between Vancouver and Seward, highlighting key attractions like Ketchikan's totem traditions and the Hubbard Glacier.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of these Virtual Explorer Sessions is significant for the travel industry as it represents an innovative approach to engaging potential travelers and boosting bookings in a post-pandemic world. By offering virtual experiences, Viking is adapting to changing consumer behaviors and preferences, which increasingly favor digital engagement. This initiative not only helps travel agents by providing them with valuable content to attract clients but also enhances the overall customer experience by offering a preview of the destinations. The sessions could lead to increased bookings and customer satisfaction, benefiting both Viking and its travel partners.
What's Next?
As the sessions progress, Viking and participating travel agents will likely monitor the impact on bookings and customer engagement. The success of these sessions could lead to the expansion of the program, potentially including more destinations or additional interactive elements. Travel agents may also adapt their marketing strategies based on the feedback and outcomes of these sessions. Additionally, Viking might explore further digital innovations to maintain its competitive edge in the travel industry.
