Scott Tassone, a physical education teacher at Oakstead Elementary School in Land O’ Lakes, Florida, has been awarded the NHL and NHLPA’s 2026 Future Goals Most Valuable Teacher Award. This accolade recognizes his efforts in using hockey to enhance education in science,
technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for his students. The award was announced during a pep rally celebrating the Tampa Bay Lightning's participation in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Tassone, a dedicated Lightning fan, was surprised by the recognition, which was attended by students, community members, and his family.
