What's Happening?
United Airlines is progressing with the installation of SpaceX's Starlink satellite internet service across its fleet. Having completed installations on its two-cabin regional jets, United is now focusing on its mainline fleet, with plans to equip roughly
half of these aircraft by the end of 2026. Currently, 17 Boeing 737NGs have been fitted with the high-speed satellite Wi-Fi, following the installation on 325 regional jets. The next phase will see installations on Airbus A321neos, 737 MAX aircraft, and widebody types, including 787s, 777s, and 767s. United's Vice President for Digital Technology, Grant Milstead, noted that the first widebody aircraft to receive Starlink could be either a 787-8 or a 777-200, with both models on track for May completion. The airline aims to have its entire mainline fleet equipped by the end of 2027.
