Netflix has secured the rights to 'Play Dead', a World War II thriller directed by Jaume Collet-Serra. The film stars Noah Jupe and Matthias Schweighöfer and follows a soldier who must survive by pretending to be dead after his unit is ambushed by Nazi
soldiers. The project, described as a mix between 'Don't Breathe' and '1917', was directed from a script by Natalie Conway and Peter Stanley-Ward. It was produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House Pictures, among others, and fully financed by Nocturnal. This acquisition is part of Collet-Serra's ongoing creative partnership with Netflix, following the success of his previous film 'Carry-On'.

This move also highlights the streaming giant's commitment to diversifying its offerings with a mix of genres, including historical thrillers. The involvement of notable producers and actors further enhances the film's potential appeal, promising to attract a wide viewership and possibly influence future content strategies.
What's Next?
Following the acquisition, Netflix is expected to begin marketing 'Play Dead' to its global audience, leveraging its platform to maximize viewership. The film's release will likely be accompanied by promotional campaigns highlighting its unique premise and star-studded cast. As part of Collet-Serra's multi-year deal with Netflix, more projects are anticipated, including 'The Cage', a high-concept cop action thriller.
