Housemarque, the developer behind the sci-fi roguelike shooter Saros, has made significant adjustments to the game's difficulty level in response to player feedback from their previous title, Returnal. The changes include the introduction of auto saves
and multiple save slots, which were not available in Returnal's initial release. Creative director Gregory Louden explained that while the game remains challenging, these modifications allow players to better manage their gameplay experience. Saros will also feature permanent upgrades, second chance revival mechanics, and Carcosan modifiers to further tailor the difficulty. Each run is designed to last approximately 30 minutes, a reduction from Returnal's longer sessions, aiming to provide a more accessible and rewarding experience.
