What's Happening?
Leviathan Metals has successfully completed a high-resolution, helicopter-borne, time-domain electromagnetic survey at its Central Project located on the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana. This marks the company's initial exploration move for the newly
acquired project. CEO Luke Norman expressed enthusiasm about utilizing this technology to identify potential drill targets. The survey data is currently being processed to select targets for near-term drilling, with preparations already underway. The Central Project is considered promising for a significant copper discovery due to its geological similarities with the Khoemacau Project. In March 2026, Leviathan expanded its Central Project by acquiring additional prospecting licenses, increasing the project's area to 590 square kilometers.
Why It's Important?
The completion of this survey is a critical step for Leviathan Metals as it seeks to establish a significant presence in the copper mining sector. The Kalahari Copper Belt is known for its rich mineral deposits, and successful exploration could lead to a major copper discovery, potentially boosting the company's market position and financial performance. This development is significant for stakeholders in the mining industry, as it could influence copper supply dynamics and pricing. Additionally, the expansion of the Central Project through new licenses enhances Leviathan's strategic positioning in the region, potentially attracting further investment and partnerships.
