Indian Railways has initiated the deployment of DRISHTI, an AI and blockchain-powered Smart Workforce Management System, to enhance workforce verification and reduce fraud. This system, developed by ChainCode Consulting LLP in collaboration with Billions
Network and Aptos Foundation, utilizes facial recognition and tamper-proof digital records to verify employee attendance. The rollout begins in Prayagraj and is expected to expand across the entire railway network. Indian Railways, one of the world's largest employers with over 1.2 million personnel, aims to address challenges such as ghost employee fraud and administrative inefficiencies. The system operates offline, crucial for areas with unreliable internet connectivity, and can verify multiple workers from a single photograph, ensuring data integrity through blockchain technology.
