What's Happening?
Siete Foods, a subsidiary of PepsiCo, has introduced two new types of tortillas: Maíz tortillas and sourdough style tortillas. These products are designed to cater to modern dietary preferences, being gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO, and organic. The Maíz tortillas are made
with olive oil and sea salt, providing a corn flavor and soft texture, while the sourdough style tortillas are crafted using modern fermentation methods to achieve a mild sourdough tang. These tortillas are available in various U.S. retail chains, including Whole Foods Market, Target, and Sprouts, with Maíz tortillas priced at $4.99 for a 12-count pack and sourdough style tortillas at $6.99 for a 10-count pack.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of these new tortillas by Siete Foods reflects a growing trend in the food industry towards accommodating diverse dietary needs and preferences. By expanding their gluten-free product line, Siete Foods is tapping into a significant market segment that prioritizes health-conscious and allergen-free food options. This move not only strengthens Siete Foods' position in the competitive tortilla market but also aligns with broader consumer trends favoring organic and non-GMO products. The availability of these products in major retail chains enhances their accessibility, potentially increasing market share and consumer loyalty.
