What's Happening?
Borealis Mining Company Limited has announced the commencement of a 5,000 metre drilling program at its Sandman Gold Project in Humboldt County, Nevada. The project, located approximately 25 kilometers
northwest of Winnemucca, hosts a pit-constrained mineral resource containing 433,000 ounces of gold in the Indicated category and 60,800 ounces in the Inferred category. The drilling program aims to advance the project toward development by generating technical information necessary for future engineering studies, mine planning, and permitting activities. The initial phase will focus on metallurgical and geotechnical testing across four deposits: Silica Ridge, North Hill, Abel Knoll, and Southeast Pediment. This phase is expected to provide critical data for pit slope design, mine planning, and infrastructure layout. Following this, the program will target resource expansion and exploration opportunities to evaluate extensions of known mineralization and test new exploration targets.
Why It's Important?
The drilling program is a significant step in advancing the Sandman Gold Project, which has demonstrated robust economics in a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) completed earlier this year. The PEA outlines a conventional open-pit, heap-leach operation with an after-tax net present value of approximately $203 million and an internal rate of return of 105% at a gold price of $2,600 per ounce. The project is expected to produce about 38,000 ounces of gold annually over a nine-year mine life. The successful advancement of this project could enhance Borealis Mining's portfolio and contribute to the economic development of the region. The project also holds potential for substantial exploration upside, which could further increase its value and attractiveness to investors.
What's Next?
As the drilling program progresses, Borealis Mining plans to allocate resources toward expanding the existing resource base and exploring new targets. The company will continue to provide updates as drilling progresses and analytical results become available. Additionally, Borealis has engaged Atrium Research Corporation to publish research reports and host interviews with the company's management to present the investment case. This engagement aims to increase investor awareness and support the company's growth strategy. The successful completion of the drilling program and subsequent studies could lead to a production decision, subject to technical results, permitting outcomes, and market conditions.
