A recent survey conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs for Allianz Partners highlights a significant shift in American summer travel preferences for 2026. The Global Travel Confidence Index reveals that Americans are increasingly planning vacations around
live events, sports, cruises, and wellness escapes, with a strong emphasis on experiential and purpose-driven travel. The survey indicates that younger generations, particularly Gen Z and Millennials, are leading this trend. Notably, 65% of Gen Z and 63% of Millennials plan to attend live entertainment or experiences during their travels. Additionally, 57% of American travelers are likely to attend a ticketed concert, festival, or performing arts event, with 38% citing such events as the primary purpose of their trip. The survey also notes a growing trend of blending work and leisure, with 31% of travelers planning to extend trips for work and leisure activities.
