A recent study by Datarails reveals that Chief Financial Officer (CFO) salaries in the United States have increased by 62% since 2019, significantly outpacing the growth of other executive roles and U.S. hourly wages. Despite this rise in compensation,
the role of CFO has become increasingly unstable, with over 60% of companies experiencing at least one CFO change during the same period. The average tenure for CFOs has decreased to 2.1 years, down from 3.1 years in previous studies. The study also highlights a gender disparity, with female CFO representation growing from 13% to 18% over six years, yet still falling short of parity. Additionally, the share of female CFOs decreased from 19% to 18% in the last year of the study.
