Rocket Lab is set to launch an Earth-observing radar satellite for the Japanese company Synspective on May 22, 2026. The mission, named 'Viva La Strix,' will see the Electron rocket lift off from Rocket Lab's New Zealand site at 5:30 a.m. EDT. This launch marks
the ninth mission Rocket Lab has conducted for Synspective, which is building a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging constellation over Japan. The constellation aims to provide data for urban development planning, construction, infrastructure monitoring, and disaster response. The Electron rocket, standing 59 feet tall, will deploy the Strix satellite into low Earth orbit at an altitude of 355 miles. Rocket Lab has been the exclusive launch provider for Synspective since 2020, with plans for 18 more missions to complete the constellation by 2030.
