What's Happening?
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has signed an agreement with Sunshine Outdoor (BD) Co., Ltd., a company based in the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong, to establish a tent and camping products manufacturing factory in the BEPZA Economic
Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram. The investment, valued at $15 million, is expected to produce 1.5 million pieces of outdoor products annually, including tents, canopies, and various types of bags and camping gear. This initiative is projected to create employment opportunities for approximately 2,975 Bangladeshi nationals. The agreement was signed by Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director of BEPZA, and Liang Difa, Chairman of Sunshine Outdoor (BD) Co., Ltd., with BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessing the ceremony.

This investment is significant as it contributes to the diversification of Bangladesh's export products, moving beyond traditional garments to include outdoor and camping equipment. The creation of nearly 3,000 jobs will provide a substantial boost to the local economy, particularly in the Chattogram region.
