A recent study by the battery health startup Recurrent, using data from Plug In America, reveals that range anxiety among electric vehicle (EV) owners significantly decreases after purchasing and using an EV.
Initially, 48% of potential buyers experience range anxiety, but this figure drops to 22% once they own the vehicle. The study highlights that as EVs improve in range and public charging infrastructure becomes more accessible, the initial fears of running out of charge diminish. The average American drives 30 to 40 miles daily, while modern EVs offer an average range of about 300 miles, indicating that most drivers do not fully utilize their vehicle's range. This trend is supported by data showing that even owners of EVs with over 350 miles of range use only about 12.6% of their vehicle's capacity on average.
