What's Happening?
Lawlita Nair, a former Deputy Director in the Department of Agriculture in Kerala, has transitioned from her career in agricultural science to pursue her passion for visual art. Nair, who holds a postgraduate degree in Agricultural Science from Kerala Agricultural University, is now a full-time artist. She is currently showcasing her work at 'Kalaadhara 2,' a one-day art fair held at the Durbar Hall Ground in Kochi. Her art, which includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings, is heavily influenced by her travels and her background in environmental sciences. Nair's work often features landscapes, birds, and scenes from daily life, focusing on capturing fleeting human moments and the play of light. The exhibition provides a platform for both
established and emerging artists in Kochi to engage with the public.
Why It's Important?
Nair's transition from a structured career in agriculture to the fluid world of art highlights the diverse paths professionals can take post-retirement. Her story underscores the importance of pursuing personal passions and the potential for career reinvention. The exhibition not only showcases Nair's work but also serves as a cultural event that enriches the local art scene in Kochi. It provides an opportunity for the public to engage with art and for artists to gain visibility and recognition. This event also emphasizes the role of art in community building and cultural expression, offering a space for dialogue and interaction among artists and art enthusiasts.
