What's Happening?
InCoax Networks AB has introduced the D2508 ER, a new platform designed to extend fiber-based broadband over existing coaxial networks in mid- to large-sized multi-dwelling units (MDUs). This system, based on MoCA Access 2.5, allows for high-density deployments
and supports symmetrical broadband services up to 2.5 Gbps per coax port. The platform aims to facilitate service upgrades without the need for new in-building wiring, thus reducing deployment costs and time. It also includes features like eQoS for traffic prioritization and operates across a wide frequency range, coexisting with legacy TV services and DOCSIS 3.0.
Why It's Important?
The launch of the D2508 ER is significant as it addresses the growing demand for high-speed internet in urban residential settings. By utilizing existing coaxial infrastructure, InCoax offers a cost-effective solution for broadband providers looking to upgrade services without extensive rewiring. This can lead to faster deployment and lower capital expenditure, making it an attractive option for service providers. The platform's ability to coexist with existing services ensures minimal disruption for residents, enhancing customer satisfaction and potentially increasing adoption rates.
