What's Happening?
AgriFutures Australia has introduced a new initiative called the People and Capability Program, which aims to tackle workforce shortages in the agricultural sector. The program offers up to $200,000 in funding to support both levied and emerging industries, such as chicken meat, rice, industrial hemp, and truffles. The initiative is designed to attract, develop, and retain skilled workers, as well as to enhance leadership capabilities within the industry. Samantha Beresford, General Manager of Levied and Emerging Industries at AgriFutures, highlighted the critical need for skilled personnel across the agricultural supply chain. The program provides two types of grants: Industry Workforce Program Grants of up to $25,000 and Capacity Building
Grants of up to $10,000. These grants are intended to support workforce initiatives and strengthen leadership and skill development. Applications for the program are open from February 16 to March 13.
