What's Happening?
Tsuyo Manufacturing has been awarded two patents for advanced electric vehicle (EV) motor technologies. The patents cover a non-magnetic bridge assisted synchronous reluctance motor and a fault-tolerant five-phase interior permanent magnet motor with
dual inverter control. These innovations aim to enhance the efficiency and reliability of EV motors while reducing the reliance on rare-earth materials. The development of these technologies was supported by Tsuyo's in-house research and development team, in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) in Nagpur, India.
Why It's Important?
The acquisition of these patents positions Tsuyo Manufacturing as a key player in the EV industry, particularly in the realm of motor technology. By focusing on reducing rare-earth material usage, Tsuyo addresses both environmental concerns and supply chain vulnerabilities associated with these materials. The improved efficiency and reliability of their motors could lead to broader adoption of EVs, contributing to the global shift towards sustainable transportation. This development also highlights the importance of innovation and collaboration between industry and academia in advancing clean energy technologies.
