What's Happening?
NTT DATA Group, in collaboration with Sumitomo Corporation and JA Mitsui Leasing, has announced the formation of a joint venture named Intra-Asia Marine Networks Co., Ltd. (I-AM NW). This venture aims to construct and manage a new submarine cable system, the Intra-Asia Marine Cable (I-AM Cable), which will connect Japan and South Korea to Malaysia and Singapore. The cable will span 8,100 kilometers and is expected to have an initial capacity of 320 terabits per second, with an estimated cost of $1 billion. The project includes planned landing sites in Japan's Chiba, Mie, and Fukuoka prefectures, as well as single landing points in Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea.
