What's Happening?
Borealis Mining Company Limited has announced the commencement of a 5,000 metre drilling program at its Sandman Gold Project in Humboldt County, Nevada. The drilling is set to begin around June 19, 2026, and will continue for several months. This program is a critical
step in advancing the Sandman project towards development, focusing on generating technical data necessary for future engineering studies, mine planning, and permitting activities. The initial phase will involve metallurgical and geotechnical drilling across four deposits: Silica Ridge, North Hill, Abel Knoll, and Southeast Pediment. The project currently hosts a pit-constrained mineral resource with 433,000 ounces of gold in the Indicated category and 60,800 ounces in the Inferred category. A Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) completed earlier this year showed robust economics, with an after-tax NPV of approximately $203 million and an IRR of 105% at a gold price of $2,600 per ounce.
Why It's Important?
The drilling program at Sandman is significant as it represents a strategic move by Borealis to expand its resource base and advance the project towards production. The Sandman project, with its substantial gold resources and favorable economic indicators, is positioned as a key growth asset within Borealis's Nevada portfolio. The successful development of this project could enhance Borealis's production capabilities and financial performance, potentially increasing its market value and attractiveness to investors. Additionally, the project could contribute to local economic development through job creation and increased economic activity in the region.
What's Next?
Following the completion of the initial drilling phase, Borealis plans to focus on resource expansion and exploration drilling. This will involve testing extensions of known mineralization and evaluating new exploration targets. The data generated from the drilling program will support future technical studies and help define a pathway towards production. Borealis will continue to provide updates as drilling progresses and analytical results become available. The company has also engaged Atrium Research Corporation to publish research reports and host interviews to present Borealis's investment case, which could influence investor perceptions and market dynamics.
