Espressif Systems has unveiled its latest addition to the ESP32 microcontroller family, the ESP32-E22, which is the company's first Wi-Fi 6E-based communications coprocessor. This new System-on-Chip (SoC)
is designed to provide high-performance wireless connectivity by integrating tri-band Wi-Fi 6E and dual-mode Bluetooth into a single subsystem. The ESP32-E22 aims to offload the entire networking stack, allowing host processors to focus solely on application logic. Built around the open RISC-V architecture, the chip features a pair of RISC-V cores running at up to 500MHz. It supports a peak data rate of 2.4Gb/s and includes advanced features like 160MHz channel bandwidth, multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) support, and beamforming. Additionally, the chip offers Bluetooth 5.4 capabilities and high-speed interfaces such as PCI Express 2.1 and Secure Digital Input Output 3.0.
