Pitt linebacker Kyle Louis and Illinois defensive lineman James Thompson recently visited the Pittsburgh Steelers' facilities as part of their pre-draft evaluations. Louis, a 6-foot, 220-pound redshirt junior, was recognized as a first-team all-ACC player
by the Associated Press last season, recording 81 tackles, including 8.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in 11 starts. Despite being labeled as an undersized linebacker or box safety, Louis impressed with a 4.53-second 40-yard dash and a 39.5-inch vertical jump at the scouting combine. Meanwhile, Thompson, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound defensive tackle, earned All-Big Ten honorable mention in his single season with Illinois after transferring from Wisconsin. He made 35 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 12 starts last season. Thompson was not invited to the combine but has shown resilience after recovering from an upper-body injury that required surgery.
