What's Happening?
Grove Street Games has announced Beastlink, a new kaiju-themed multiplayer game for PC and consoles. The game allows players to control both monster hunters and kaiju, featuring sandbox environments built with the developer's SuperDestruction physics-based
system. Players can engage in vehicular combat and urban destruction, with the goal of linking with sleeping kaiju to unleash their power. The game will launch with four kaiju: the Horned Lizard, the Bull Shark, the Vampire Bat, and the Mandrill. Early access begins this summer, with the first closed beta weekend starting on May 8.
Why It's Important?
Beastlink represents a significant entry into the kaiju gaming genre, offering a unique blend of tactical survival and large-scale destruction. The game's innovative use of physics-based mechanics could set a new standard for destructible environments in video games. For Grove Street Games, known for their work on the Ark series and Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy, this project showcases their ability to tackle complex technical challenges and create engaging multiplayer experiences. The game's success could influence future developments in the genre, encouraging more titles that emphasize player-driven destruction and dynamic environments.
What's Next?
As Beastlink enters its closed beta phase, player feedback will be crucial in shaping the final product. The development team plans to use insights from the beta to refine gameplay mechanics and ensure a polished release. The gaming community will be watching to see how well the game balances its dual focus on tactical survival and kaiju combat. If successful, Beastlink could inspire similar projects and expand the market for kaiju-themed games. Players can look forward to participating in the beta and experiencing the game's innovative mechanics firsthand.
