What's Happening?
Eido Walny, founder and managing partner of Walny Legal Group in Milwaukee, has executed Wisconsin's first high school name, image, and likeness (NIL) partnerships. In May 2025, Walny signed All-American lacrosse standout Darcy Doyle, following the Wisconsin Interscholastic
Athletic Association's authorization of NIL activities for high school athletes. This partnership aims to promote legal readiness among young adults, encouraging them to establish essential legal documents. Walny's approach highlights leadership and education by partnering with a female athlete, rather than focusing on traditional high-profile sports.
Why It's Important?
This development marks a significant shift in the landscape of high school athletics, as it opens new opportunities for student-athletes to benefit from their personal brand. By focusing on legal readiness, the initiative also educates young adults on the importance of legal documentation, which is crucial as they transition into adulthood. The partnership with a female athlete underscores the importance of diversity and inclusion in sports, promoting gender equality and empowering young women in athletics.
