What's Happening?
Ramboll, a global architecture, engineering, and sustainability consultancy, has appointed Darren Carlile as a Director in its Buildings business. Carlile, who brings over 35 years of industry experience,
including 24 years as a Royal Engineer officer in the British Army, will lead growth and sales across Transformation and Public Services. His focus will be on National Security and Government, Research, and Polar sectors. Previously, Carlile worked at AECOM, where he led the Defence and National Security Sector, establishing AECOM as a key consultancy to the UK Ministry of Defence and other government bodies. His appointment aligns with the UK Government's Strategic Defence Review and the forthcoming ten-year Defence Investment Plan.
Why It's Important?
Carlile's appointment is significant as it underscores Ramboll's commitment to expanding its influence in the national security and government sectors. This move is timely, given the UK Government's increased spending on national security and defence. By leveraging Carlile's extensive experience, Ramboll aims to strengthen its partnerships with government departments and support critical infrastructure projects. This strategic focus could enhance Ramboll's role in government contracts, potentially leading to increased business opportunities and reinforcing its position in the engineering consultancy market.
What's Next?
Carlile will focus on consolidating Ramboll's work with various government departments, including the Falkland Islands Government and the British Antarctic Survey. His role will also involve supporting US Visiting Forces in the UK and other defence-related entities. As the UK Government continues to invest in national security, Ramboll is poised to play a crucial role in ensuring these investments yield sustainable benefits. The consultancy's expertise in polar environments positions it well for future research and infrastructure projects in Antarctica.
