Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. (AOI), a leading provider of optical and HFC networking products, has announced plans to expand its manufacturing capacity in the Houston area. The expansion involves acquiring two adjacent buildings in Pearland, Texas, adding
approximately 388,000 square feet of manufacturing space. This move is aimed at increasing the production capacity of 800G and 1.6T transceivers to up to 700,000 units per month by the end of 2027. The expansion also seeks to boost laser fabrication capacity by around 350%. Dr. Thompson Lin, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of AOI, emphasized the need to scale rapidly to meet the growing demand for optical connectivity in data centers.
