What's Happening?
Streetwear icons Nigo and Jun Takahashi have teamed up with Nike to release a new version of the Air Force 1 Low, dubbed 'LO2'. This collaboration pays homage to their influential magazine column 'Last Orgy 2', which they edited together starting in 1991.
The sneaker features a navy and white color scheme with 'LO2' branding, and is part of a broader collection that includes apparel such as T-shirts and jackets. The collection will first be available at the Design Museum in London on May 1, followed by a release on Humanmade’s website and Undercover stores on May 2, priced at $150.
Why It's Important?
This collaboration highlights the enduring influence of Nigo and Takahashi in the streetwear and fashion industry. By partnering with Nike, a major player in the global sportswear market, the designers are able to reach a wider audience and reinforce their legacy. The collection not only celebrates their past work but also bridges the gap between fashion and cultural history, appealing to both long-time fans and new consumers. This move could potentially boost Nike's market presence in the streetwear segment, which is known for its loyal and trend-conscious consumer base.
