What's Happening?
S&P Global Energy has announced the opening of nominations for the 2026 Platts Global Energy Awards, an event often referred to as 'the Oscars of the energy industry.' This prestigious awards program,
now in its 28th year, celebrates corporate and individual achievements across 19 categories, including Upstream, Midstream, Downstream, Liquefied Natural Gas, Power, Chemicals, and Finance. The awards also recognize corporate achievements such as Infrastructure Project of the Year and Energy Deal of the Year, as well as personal accolades like Rising Star Individual and Lifetime Achievement. Nominations will close on July 1, 2026, with finalists announced on September 1, 2026. The winners will be revealed at a black-tie ceremony in New York City on December 3, 2026.
Why It's Important?
The Platts Global Energy Awards serve as a benchmark for excellence in the energy sector, highlighting significant contributions to energy security, decarbonization, and technological advancement. By recognizing leaders and innovators, the awards encourage continued progress and innovation in an industry facing rapid transformation and increasing demand driven by AI and other technologies. The awards not only honor individual and corporate achievements but also set standards for future endeavors in energy sustainability and resilience, impacting policy-making and corporate strategies globally.
What's Next?
Following the nomination period, an impartial panel of international energy experts will evaluate the entries based on specific criteria, including company profiles and financial performance. The selection process is designed to ensure fairness and transparency, with winners being chosen by the independent panel rather than S&P Global Energy or its sponsors. The awards ceremony in December will provide a platform for industry leaders to network and discuss future challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.
