Fujifilm Biotechnologies has inaugurated its expanded site in Teesside, UK, marking the opening of the largest single-use biopharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) facility in the country. This expansion, funded by a £400 million ($545 million) investment from Fujifilm Corp., Japan, introduces 2,000 L and 5,000 L single-use bioreactors with a total capacity of up to 19,000 L. The facility, set to be operational in the first half of 2026, aims to enhance Fujifilm's global manufacturing network by providing small- and mid-scale antibody manufacturing capabilities. Additionally, the Bioprocess Innovation Centre UK will serve as a high-tech laboratory for process development, doubling the existing lab footprint
and complementing the site's Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) capabilities.
