What's Happening?
Walkabout Mini Golf has announced the release of its 40th course, Blokhaven, set to launch on May 7. This new downloadable content (DLC) takes players through an imaginative island town constructed from shipwrecked toys. Blokhaven is the third DLC course released
by Walkabout in 2026, following Tiki à Coco in January and Passport Hollywood in March. The game, developed by Mighty Coconut, is available on multiple platforms including Steam, PSVR2, and Quest. Despite recent layoffs, the company remains committed to expanding its content, with plans already in place for courses through 2028.
Why It's Important?
The release of new content like the Blokhaven DLC is significant for the virtual reality gaming industry, as it demonstrates continued innovation and expansion in VR experiences. This development is crucial for maintaining player engagement and attracting new users to the platform. The ability of Mighty Coconut to plan and execute new content despite workforce reductions highlights the resilience and adaptability of the company in a competitive market. This could potentially influence other VR developers to prioritize content expansion as a strategy for growth.
What's Next?
Mighty Coconut plans to provide a full course tour of Blokhaven and interviews with developers to offer insights into the creation process. The company is also looking ahead to future releases, with all courses for 2026 and 2027 already planned. This forward-thinking approach suggests that players can expect a steady stream of new content, which may enhance the game's longevity and appeal.
