Merivale has announced the appointment of Erin Proud as the general manager of their upcoming boutique hotel, The Whale, located in Narooma on New South Wales' far South Coast. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first half of 2026. Erin Proud brings
two decades of luxury hotel experience from prestigious establishments across London, Asia, the United States, and Australia. Her previous role was as general manager at Spicers Peak Lodge, a luxury award-winning hotel. Proud's career includes significant roles at The Savoy London, Raffles Beijing, Fairmont Grand Del Mar, and Rosewood Miramar Beach, where she was known for enhancing operational standards and creating exceptional guest experiences. At The Whale, Proud will oversee all aspects of the hotel's pre-opening, launch, and operations, including guest services, wellness and leisure experiences, recruitment, and community engagement. The hotel will feature 19 newly designed rooms, wellness facilities, and an adjoining restaurant, Queen Chow, which will offer locally sourced produce and fresh seafood with a Cantonese flair.
