What's Happening?
The Sundance Institute has announced the selection of 10 fellows and eight projects for its 2026 Episodic Lab, which will take place at Dunaway Gardens in Newnan, Georgia, from May 15 to 20. The lab is designed
to support emerging writers by providing guidance from established showrunners and development executive producers. Participants will have the opportunity to workshop their pilot scripts, pitch their series, and engage in one-on-one story meetings, panels, and writers' rooms. This initiative aims to enhance the writing craft and improve the viability of projects in the current entertainment landscape. The fellows will also receive support through workshops prior to the lab and a yearlong framework for continued development. Notable creative advisors and industry mentors involved in the program include Jason Katims, Nick Jones Jr., James Wong, and others.
