WEG, a global manufacturer of integrated energy systems, has announced the construction of a new manufacturing plant dedicated to battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Itajaí, Santa Catarina, Brazil. This facility is part of WEG's strategic expansion
to enhance its energy transition portfolio. The project, financed with BRL 280 million through the BNDES More Innovation programme, aims to strengthen energy security and grid resilience. The plant will feature advanced automation and is expected to generate approximately 90 direct jobs, expanding WEG's BESS production capacity to up to 2 GWh per year. The construction is set to begin shortly, with completion planned for the second half of 2027.
