YTL Communications, a Malaysian telecommunications company, has announced a partnership with Shush, a US-based identity and fraud prevention platform, to deploy network authentication APIs. These APIs, standardized by CAMARA, are designed to verify user
identities and prevent fraud through secure network checks. The initial rollout will include Number Verification and SIM Swap detection, allowing businesses to authenticate users and detect fraud efficiently. The collaboration aligns with a previous agreement among major Malaysian telcos to launch a federated network service under the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, aimed at protecting online businesses and consumers from fraud and digital identity theft. Shush's Sherlock platform will provide real-time signals for SIM swap detection and device validation, creating new revenue streams for telcos.
