What's Happening?
Hydro-Québec has announced a new grant program aimed at encouraging residential and business customers to install solar panels. The grant offers $1,000 per kW installed, covering up to 40% of eligible project costs. This initiative is part of Hydro-Québec's
plan to integrate 3000 MW of solar power by 2035, addressing the growing electricity needs in the region. Customers can also opt for Net Metering to inject surplus electricity into the grid, receiving credits in return.
Why It's Important?
This grant program is a significant step towards promoting renewable energy in Québec, helping to reduce the payback period for solar panel installations. By supporting solar self-generation, Hydro-Québec is contributing to the province's energy sustainability goals and encouraging the adoption of clean energy solutions. The program is expected to accelerate the transition to solar power, benefiting both residential and business customers by reducing energy costs and enhancing energy independence.
