What's Happening?
Sallaum Lines has expanded its Ocean Class fleet by taking delivery of two new Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), named MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator. These vessels, built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard and registered under the Cyprus
flag, are designed to transport a variety of vehicles and oversized cargo. Each ship has a capacity of 7,400 car equivalent units and features LNG dual-fuel propulsion systems, which enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions. The addition of these vessels is part of Sallaum Lines' strategy to address capacity constraints and meet increasing customer demand. The company has completed eight sailings from the Far East to Europe in 2026 and plans to launch a dedicated China-Europe service in 2027.
Why It's Important?
The delivery of these LNG dual-fueled vessels marks a significant step in Sallaum Lines' efforts to enhance its shipping capabilities and environmental sustainability. By incorporating energy-efficient technologies, the company is aligning with global trends towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions in maritime transport. This expansion is crucial for Sallaum Lines to capitalize on the growing China-Europe trade corridor, which is a vital route for global commerce. The new vessels will help alleviate capacity constraints, allowing the company to better serve its customers and potentially increase its market share in the competitive shipping industry.
What's Next?
Sallaum Lines plans to integrate these new vessels into its operations immediately, enhancing its service offerings on the China-Europe trade route. The company is also preparing to launch a dedicated service for this corridor in 2027, which could further strengthen its position in the market. As global trade continues to evolve, Sallaum Lines' investment in LNG technology and fleet expansion positions it well to adapt to future demands and regulatory changes in the shipping industry.
