What's Happening?
Los Angeles Rams safety Kam Curl has partnered with The RightWay Foundation to assist three former foster youth by funding part of their rent for an apartment in Los Angeles' Koreatown. The initiative, which began on May 1, is part of Curl's ongoing efforts
to support foster youth. Curl has previously supported the foundation through initiatives like My Cause My Cleats, where he wore custom cleats to raise awareness. The RightWay Foundation's CEO, Franco Vega, expressed gratitude for Curl's involvement, highlighting the significant impact of his contributions. Additionally, Bob's Discount Furniture, a partner of the Rams, furnished the new apartment, further supporting the youth's transition.
Why It's Important?
This initiative by Kam Curl underscores the role professional athletes can play in community support beyond their on-field performances. By aiding former foster youth, Curl addresses a critical social issue, providing stability and opportunities for a vulnerable group. This action not only benefits the individuals directly involved but also raises awareness about the challenges faced by foster youth transitioning to independence. The involvement of a high-profile athlete like Curl can inspire others in the sports community to engage in similar philanthropic efforts, potentially leading to broader societal impacts.
