Colombian designer Manuela Álvarez has partnered with Adidas to create the Raíz de Fénix collection, which was unveiled during the LVMH Prize 2026 semi-finalists presentation. This collaboration blends sportswear with South American craftsmanship, highlighting
local culture and empowering artisans. Álvarez, the only Latin American designer in the competition, has been expanding her brand, MAZ, since its founding in 2013. The brand focuses on high-end contemporary and slow fashion, emphasizing artisanal craftsmanship and Latin American culture. The Raíz de Fénix collection involves over 850 artisans, primarily female heads of households and indigenous communities, using techniques such as weaving, embroidery, and macramé.
