What's Happening?
Zov's, a family-owned restaurant chain known for its Mediterranean-style California cuisine, has opened a new location in San Clemente, California. The restaurant, which has been serving Orange County for nearly four decades, is run by three generations
of the Karamardian family. The new San Clemente location is situated in the downtown district and features a coastal-inspired design. The menu includes a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, such as mezze platters, locally sourced seafood, and signature entrees like harissa roasted chicken and rosemary rack of lamb. In addition to the new opening, Zov's is planning a major renovation of its flagship location in Tustin, which will remain open during the construction. The Tustin site is part of a larger redevelopment project by Burnham-Ward Properties, which aims to transform the area into a commercial and residential space called Campo on 17th.
Why It's Important?
The expansion and renovation of Zov's reflect a broader trend in the restaurant industry towards revitalizing and modernizing dining spaces to attract new customers and retain existing ones. By opening a new location in San Clemente and renovating its Tustin flagship, Zov's is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing demand for unique dining experiences that blend traditional and contemporary elements. This move is significant for the local economy, as it not only creates jobs but also enhances the community's dining options. The involvement of Burnham-Ward Properties in the Tustin redevelopment project further underscores the importance of strategic partnerships in driving economic growth and urban development. As Zov's continues to expand, it sets an example for other family-owned businesses looking to adapt and thrive in a competitive market.
What's Next?
The next steps for Zov's include the completion of the Tustin renovation, which is expected to be finished by summer 2027. During this period, the current Tustin restaurant will remain operational, ensuring continuity for its loyal customer base. The renovation will draw inspiration from the newly opened San Clemente location, promising a refreshed dining experience. As the redevelopment of the Enderle Center progresses, Zov's will play a key role as an anchor tenant, contributing to the area's transformation into a vibrant commercial and residential hub. The success of these projects could influence other businesses in the region to pursue similar upgrades, potentially leading to a broader revitalization of the local economy.
