What's Happening?
Tri Star Energy, a Nashville-based company, is expanding its beverage offerings by introducing ICEE frozen beverages to select locations across its convenience-store brands, including Twice Daily and Sudden
Service in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. The available flavors will include cherry and blue raspberry. Customers will have the option to customize their ICEE at the beverage bar or opt for a 'Dirty ICEE' with add-ins like sweet cream and syrups. This initiative is part of Tri Star Energy's strategy to enhance customer experience by offering nostalgic and popular treats. The company, which ranks 48th on CSP's 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience store chains by store count, aims to create memorable moments for its guests, according to Dawn Boulanger, the vice president of marketing at Tri Star Energy.
Why It's Important?
The introduction of ICEE beverages at Tri Star Energy locations is significant as it reflects the company's commitment to enhancing customer satisfaction and diversifying its product offerings. By tapping into the nostalgic appeal of ICEE, Tri Star Energy is likely to attract a broader customer base, including families and individuals seeking a quick, refreshing treat. This move could potentially increase foot traffic and sales at their convenience stores, thereby strengthening their market position in the competitive convenience store industry. Additionally, the partnership with The ICEE Co., a well-known brand owned by J&J Snack Foods Corp., could enhance brand recognition and customer loyalty for Tri Star Energy.
What's Next?
Tri Star Energy is currently undergoing a three-year rebranding program following its acquisition of Cox Oil in 2023, which included 52 company-operated locations. The company plans to maintain its primary store names while integrating new offerings like ICEE. As the rollout of ICEE beverages continues, Tri Star Energy may explore further collaborations with popular brands to expand its product range. The company is also likely to monitor customer feedback and sales data to assess the success of the ICEE introduction and make adjustments as needed to optimize customer satisfaction and business performance.
