What's Happening?
Kellogg Community College (KCC) is offering a free summer program, the Kellogg Kickstart, designed to help new students prepare for college-level courses. The program targets individuals who have not yet achieved a C grade or better in college-level English
or math and have not taken the First Year Seminar. Scheduled to run from July 7 to August 13, the program includes classes on campus in Battle Creek, Michigan. Participants will receive a stipend in Visa gift cards, free meals, and course materials at no cost. The initiative aims to support students in transitioning to college by fulfilling academic requirements and providing necessary resources.
Why It's Important?
The Kellogg Kickstart program addresses the challenges faced by new college students, particularly those who may struggle with foundational courses. By offering this program for free, KCC is removing financial barriers and providing essential support to ensure students are college-ready. This initiative not only helps students succeed academically but also contributes to higher retention and graduation rates. By investing in students' early success, KCC is fostering a supportive educational environment that can lead to long-term benefits for both students and the community.
