Sunderland is gearing up for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, set to take place at Herrington Country Park from May 22 to 24. The event will feature over 100 major artists, including Olivia Dean, Zara Larsson,
and Fatboy Slim. Sunderland City Council, in collaboration with the North East Combined Authority, is implementing comprehensive travel and transport plans to accommodate the influx of visitors. These plans include shuttle buses from designated transport hubs, temporary road closures, and a traffic management system to ensure smooth travel to and from the festival site. Attendees are advised to plan their journeys in advance and utilize public transport options.
