What's Happening?
Zacatecas Silver has commenced its 2026 diamond drilling campaign at the El Cristo Project, located in Mexico's Zacatecas Mining District. The first hole, drilled by Major Drilling Mexico, reached a depth of 117 meters at a -60° incline, targeting the downdip
extension of a sulphidation vein. The drilling encountered a mineralized brecciated structure between 89 and 108 meters downhole, characterized by fine dark-grey sulphide, sphalerite, galena, and some chalcopyrite. The mineralization occurs within brecciated, multi-episode quartz veins hosted by a fractured, intensely silicified volcaniclastic succession. Rock-chip sampling indicates high silver grades correlate with galena and sphalerite mineralization. Zacatecas Silver plans to send samples to ALS in Zacatecas for further analysis.
Why It's Important?
The initiation of the drilling campaign at El Cristo is significant for Zacatecas Silver as it confirms the presence of a fertile, mineralized system with potential for high-grade silver. This development could enhance the company's resource base and attract further investment. The Zacatecas Mining District is known for its rich mineral deposits, and successful exploration could lead to increased economic activity in the region. The presence of valuable minerals like silver, sphalerite, and galena could also have broader implications for the mining industry, potentially impacting global supply chains and market dynamics.
What's Next?
Zacatecas Silver will continue its drilling program, building on the momentum of the initial findings. The company aims to further delineate the mineralized zones and assess the project's economic viability. As the drilling progresses, additional data will be collected to refine the geological model and guide future exploration efforts. The results of the ongoing campaign could influence the company's strategic decisions and partnerships, potentially leading to expanded operations or joint ventures.
