What's Happening?
EVgo has launched a new electric vehicle (EV) fast charging hub in San Diego, featuring 28 charging stalls. This addition is part of EVgo's broader effort to expand its network, which saw over 1,200 new chargers installed last year. The new site, located
at 3757 Midway Dr., offers 200 kW fast charging capabilities and is conveniently situated near shopping and dining options. This expansion is significant for San Diego, which currently has around 290 fast chargers and approximately 2,700-2,800 public EV chargers in total.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of EVgo's fast charging network in San Diego is crucial for supporting the growing number of electric vehicles in California, the state with the highest number of EVs in the U.S. By increasing the availability of fast chargers, EVgo is addressing a key barrier to EV adoption: charging infrastructure. This development not only benefits local residents but also the millions of visitors to San Diego, some of whom drive or rent electric vehicles. As California aims to run entirely on clean electricity by 2045, enhancing EV infrastructure is a step towards achieving this goal.
