Volvo Autonomous Solutions and Boliden have successfully completed an autonomous haulage project at the Garpenberg mine in Sweden. The project involved transporting nearly 700,000 tonnes of rock fill to reinforce a dam wall, covering over 11,000 transport cycles
and 56,000 kilometers. This marks the first deliverable under a partnership agreement signed in 2023. The project utilized Volvo's Autona/earth system, which includes autonomous vehicles and operational support, delivered as a Transport-as-a-Service model. The success of this project demonstrates the viability of autonomous haulage in mining operations, highlighting its potential to improve safety and efficiency.
