What's Happening?
The SAI Platform has secured backing from 40 organizations, including Carlsberg Group, Diageo, and Mondelēz International, for its Regenerating Together Programme (RTP). Announced in Geneva, the initiative aims to align the food and agriculture industry
around regenerative agriculture practices. The declaration of intent signed by these companies acknowledges the interconnected challenges of climate change, biodiversity loss, and soil degradation. The RTP is designed to support the transition to regenerative agriculture by establishing shared impact areas and outcomes, while allowing for adaptation to local conditions. Dionys Forster, director general at SAI Platform, emphasized the importance of moving from ambition to action in regenerative agriculture.
Why It's Important?
This initiative represents a significant step towards addressing environmental and sustainability challenges in the global food and agriculture sectors. By aligning major industry players around common goals, the RTP aims to create scalable and measurable impacts on agricultural practices. The collaboration could lead to more resilient supply chains and improved environmental outcomes, benefiting farmers, consumers, and the planet. The involvement of prominent companies like Carlsberg and Mondelēz highlights the growing recognition of the need for systemic change in agriculture to ensure long-term sustainability and food security.
What's Next?
The SAI Platform plans to officially launch the next phase of the Regenerating Together Programme at its Annual Event in Saskatoon, Canada, in June 2026. This event will likely provide further details on the implementation and expected outcomes of the initiative. Participating companies will begin working collectively to support regenerative agriculture practices, with a focus on scalability and practical application. The success of the RTP could influence other sectors to adopt similar collaborative approaches to sustainability challenges.
