What's Happening?
Rio Grande Resources is set to conduct a high-resolution airborne magnetic survey at its Winston Gold-Silver Project located in the Black Range Mountains of Sierra County, New Mexico. The survey, covering approximately 19.2 square kilometers, aims to map
structures beneath the surface and refine priority targets for drilling. This initiative follows recent high-grade surface sampling results that identified significant gold and silver values. Precision GeoSurveys has been commissioned to carry out the survey, which is expected to commence in late February 2026, contingent on weather and operational conditions. The survey will utilize 50-meter line spacing across the claim block to enhance structural interpretation and refine exploration targets by identifying branching faults and potential intrusive features.
Why It's Important?
The airborne survey is crucial for Rio Grande Resources as it seeks to better define mineralized zones and refine drilling targets at the Winston Project. The project is believed to house a structurally controlled low-sulphidation epithermal system, which could potentially yield significant mineral resources. By integrating the survey data with existing mapping and sampling datasets, the company aims to facilitate more focused exploration efforts. This could lead to the discovery of new mineralized zones, thereby enhancing the project's economic viability and contributing to the local economy through potential mining operations.
What's Next?
Upon completion of the survey, the magnetic data will undergo processing to create detailed maps of total magnetic intensity and derivatives. These results will be integrated with surface assay data and compared against historical workings to identify structural offsets and undrilled extensions. The goal is to generate a list of priority targets for potential drilling, aligning with known high-grade mineralization. Rio Grande Resources plans to incorporate these insights into its broader exploration strategy, with expectations to conduct targeted ground validation and detailed mapping as required.
