Lufthansa Technik has announced significant progress in establishing its new aircraft and engine component business in Portugal. The company has appointed Torsten Raabe as the Managing Director of Lufthansa Technik Portugal, which is set to commence operations
in late 2027. This development is part of a multi-million-euro investment aimed at expanding Lufthansa Technik's maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. The new facility, located at the Lusopark business park in Santa Maria da Feira, has received certification as a European Union Aviation Safety Agency Part-145 approved location. This certification allows the transition from training activities to certified maintenance work on aircraft components, starting with coffee makers. The site is currently operating out of three temporary buildings, with training and initial operational work already underway. The company plans to employ over 700 people once fully operational, with 75 employees already recruited.
