World of Warcraft (WoW) developers are planning to reintroduce large-scale dungeons, reminiscent of the game's earlier days, through a new feature called Labyrinths. This initiative is part of the upcoming World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion. Associate game director Paul Kubit and lead encounter designer Dylan Barker discussed the concept, which aims to offer a more expansive and exploratory dungeon experience compared to the current Mythic+ dungeons. Labyrinths are designed to be extensive, requiring multiple evenings to complete, and are seen as an evolution of the existing Delves system. Delves are short, solo or small-group dungeons, but Labyrinths will provide a more immersive and time-consuming experience, harking back to the days of dungeons like
Maraudon and Blackrock Spire, which featured numerous bosses and complex layouts.
